UAF specializes in custom products for transportation applications:

UAF collaborates with public transit authorities to design, prototype, and manufacture custom filters that operate within your existing air circulation systems. We use a variety of media and deliver to a number of standards that are compliant with current ASHRAE recommendations, including: 

• MERV 8 – 11 for in-vehicle filtration
• MERV 14 – 16 for facility filtration

Additionally, UAF filters incorporate specialty materials like the patented PuraWard fiber. PuraWard fiber goes beyond the trapping of virus particles: it’s embedded with copper and silver ions that jointly attack viruses. Copper ions weaken the amino acids of the cell wall, allowing silver to invade the cell. The copper and silver then react with key enzymes to cause sterilization, suffocation, and starvation of the target microbials.

Laboratory scale testing shows that the combination of a MERV 11 filter with PuraWard technology applied to it has a first-pass efficiency rate of 91.7% removal of the virus MS2 (a widely accepted surrogate for SARS-CoV-2, commonly known as COVID-19). Just four air exchanges resulted in a 99.995% removal rate of aerosolized MS2.
