Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) require careful thermal management of their batteries and protection from the elements. In flight, the rush of air can provide passive air cooling to mounted batteries, but allowing airflow to the batteries introduces a new set of challenges: keeping dust, rain, snow, and other environmental particles out of the battery terminal and UAV interior.

UAF offers a range of framed and unframed filters that can be custom made to the specifications of your UAV, allow for effective cooling of the battery while protecting it and the sensitive electronics inside the drone from environmental hazards. We protect batteries both in flight and from ground splashes / kick-up during belly landings.

UAF filters are designed to be cleanable, are manufactured in Sauget, Illinois, and can meet UL94, MIL-SPEC and other ratings as needed.  Our most popular filter solution for UAVs includes both our proprietary Quadrafoam™ media and a layer of hydrophobic mesh. The combination can be as thin as .125” / ~3mm, is very low weight, and has an initial resistance of .07 in.w.g. This material is also able to achieve a UL900 or UL94 HF-1 flame safety rating.
